About Native Animal Rescue

Native Animal Rescue is the business name for the Fauna Rehabilitation Foundation. Native Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit, non government incorporated body dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of sick, injured, orphaned and displaced native animals.

We rely totally on public donations , funds raised through our own fundraising activities and incidental funding grants from various government and non-government sources.

Founded in 1982 Native Animal Rescue is headquartered on a 15 hectare natural bush site in Malaga. Native Animal Rescue cares for more than 3,000 native birds and animals in need each year. This includes native birds of various species, echidnas, kangaroos, possums, bandicoots and reptiles.

Willy wagtail Native Animal Rescue exists to:
  • Treat and care for sick, injured, orphaned and displace native animals and to rehabilitate them back into their natural environment;
  • Contribute to conservation strategies in collaboration with various agencies;
  • Provide facilities for the training of practitioners in wildlife management skills and the education of the wider community in wildlife issues;
  • Educate veterinary students in the care and handling of wildlife; and
  • Provide resources and facilities to support research into wildlife issues.

Native Animal Rescue collaborates with local veterinary clinics to provide a rescue service for native animals to the community living in the suburbs north of the Swan River. Native Animal Rescue has recently developed state of the art facilities to cater for: -

It is currently in the early stages of developing a specialised facility for the rehabilitation of penguins, seabirds and other water birds. If you would like to support the development of this facility, we would love to hear from you. In prticular we would love to hear from building contractors and suppliers who may be able to assist with provision of building supplies or construction services.
